Biolea Astrikas Estate

Biolea is a family-owned estate at Astrikas, near Kolymvari in the Chania region of western Crete. It produces organic olive oil that is stone-milled and cold-pressed, and every drop is grown and bottled on the estate itself rather than bought in from elsewhere.

A one-hour guided olive oil tour with tasting runs generally from April to October, and booking ahead is advised. The estate also has its own restaurant and kafeneion, where the menus are built around olive oil and include chef's pairing menus. Planning the tour around a meal is a sensible way to spend a few unhurried hours here.
