About Museum of Industrial Olive Oil Production of Lesvos
This museum occupies the old communal olive press of Agia Paraskevi on Lesvos. Built on local initiative in 1910 and known as 'The People's Machine', the press produced oil from 1911 until 1967. It is now run by the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) and has been open to visitors since 2006.
The museum is closed on Tuesdays. It has a shop and canteen, and visitor reviews mention a small selection of quality Lesvos olive oils for sale alongside gifts and PIOP publications. It makes a good introduction to the island's olive history before visiting working producers.
