For more than a century the Dafnis family has made olive oil on Corfu from centuries-old Lianolia trees. Their base is the Olive Fabrica in Agios Matthaios, in the south-west of the island. The Governor is their high-phenolic extra virgin oil, marketed as carrying a health claim, and the company's site cites an EVOO of the Year 2020 title.
Through Corfu Olive Tours, the family runs guided walks in the groves and tastings near Gardiki Castle, inside a Natura 2000 protected area. It is a chance to see the old trees where the oil starts.
